JAMMU, Nov 25: Former Member Legislative Council (MLC), Ch. Vikram Randhawa, who is also the convenor of Pradhan Mantri Gareeb Anna Kalyan Yojna (PMGAKY) in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, has hailed the decision of the Union Government of extending the abovementioned scheme upto March 2022.
In a press communique issued here Randhawa said that the government has taken a people friendly initiative amid ongoing pandemic to provide free ration to the poor families and had launched PMGAKY. He said that under this scheme 80 crore families of the nation were being provided free of cost ration as most of these families had lost their earning following frequent shutdowns and lockdowns to contain the spread of the dreaded corona virus.
He said as per the earlier this scheme was to be ended in November 2021 and now the government has decided to extend it upto March 2022 which is a welcome move and will provide succor to the 80 crore poor families of the nation. He said the covid is still not over and people need more support from the government and this move will definitely support the poor families in mitigating their miseries.
He said that the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken historic decisions which had benefitted downtrodden section of the society in many sectors. He said that the incumbent Prime Minister is a visionary leader who is very much concerned about the downtrodden section of the society.
