DC Ramban reviews function of Revenue department

RAMBAN, Nov 26: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mussarat Islam today convened a meeting of Revenue officers to revise the land stamp duty rates for the year 2022 besides reviewing the functioning of Revenue Department.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal; ACD Zameer Rishu; ACR Dhrindera Sharma; SDM Banihal Zaheer Abass, SDM Ramsoo Dilmir Choudhary, SDM Gool Gias-Ul-Haq, Executive Officer Municipal Council, Vishwajeet; XEN PWD, DPO Ramban Tehsildars and other concerned officers.
Discussing the extant land rates and differences in stamp duty, the DC underlined the need to take into account all the considerations while proposing the revision of stamp duty rates.
The DC exhorted upon the officers to revisit the rates and propose five percent minimum increase in the previous rates besides depicting the reasons for proposing highest rates. He also directed the concerned to ensure that the new rates shall be sensitive to generation of government revenue and place a balance and check in sale purchase deeds.
The DC further said that with increased development activity, certain areas are witnessing an increase in sale and purchase deeds to cater to construction activities in these areas. He directed that a report in this regard be also prepared so that any necessary interventions can be made.
Meanwhile, the DC also reviewed the functioning of the Revenue department and directed SDMs and Tehsildars to conduct frequent visits to far off areas in their respective jurisdictions to ensure availability of essential commodities and basic facilities for the common public.
While reviewing the progress with regard to writing of Jamabandi, attestation of mutations and writing of Girdawari, the DC directed the Tehsildars to complete the same and ensure regular updation of land record as per targets without any fail. He stressed on timely completion of settlement process under Digital India Land Records Modernization Programme (DILRMP).
