REASI, Nov 28: Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree (GGZSMD) College Reasi observed NCC Day by organizing an online card making competition under “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” initiative.
The National Cadet Corps (NCC), the youth wing of the Indian Armed Forces and the largest uniformed youth organization in the world, was observing the 73rd anniversary of its raising day today. The NCC was formed on 15th July 1948. However, the NCC day is observed throughout the country, on the fourth Sunday of November, because, it was on that day in 1947 that the first units were raised in Delhi.
Students were asked to make cards for their fellow cadets and write messages also for wishing “A Happy NCC day”. A number of students sent their entries in online mode. First position was bagged by Yashika Abrol of BA Sem-II, second by Nidhi
The event was organized by Dr Anu Sharma, NCC Officer (Girls) and Prof Sunil Magotra ANO, Boys under the patronage of Dr Chander Shekhar, Principal of the college. He congratulated the winners and lauded their efforts.
College organizes various events from time to time to celebrate various important days. Earlier Poster making, Slogan writing, National Anthem singing competitions were organized in connection with “Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
