| Excise sleuths conduct raids in Rajouri, one arrested | | |

RAJOURI, Nov 28: The Excise department arrested one person and destroyed 42 litres of illicit liquor, 250 kilograms of Lahan and three working stills during different raids carried out to arrest the menace of illicit distillation and sale of illicit liquor in excise range of Rajouri-Poonch.
On the directions of Excise Commissioner, Kishore Singh Chib and supervision of Deputy Excise Commissioner (Executive), Jammu Kusum Sharma, a team of Excise range Rajouri- Poonch led by inspector Mohammad Arif and Mohammad Farooq raided the Barari, Nowshera and Hanjana and adjoining areas of Rajouri district to arrest the menace of illicit distillation of liquor.
During the course one person was arrested with three bottles of 750 ml illicit liquor and was identified as Mohan Singh S/O Partap Singh R/O Barari, Nowshera. In the process 40 litres of illicit liquor and 250 kilgrams of Lahan, raw material of illicit liquor which is highly hazardous and injurious to health and three working stills were recovered by the raiding team from state land & later destroyed on spot.
