Jammu, Nov 29: On Monday a Historical day for District Kathua at Gateway of Jammu and Kashmir Lakhanpur as it official now when Muncipal Committee Lakhanpur President Ravinder Kumar Sharma and District Development Council Vice President Raghunandan Singh before the bhumipoojan lay Foundation stone of statue of first ruler of Jammu and Kashmir Maharaja Gulab Singh at the Gateway of J&K Lakhanpur Kathua and it was prominent place of Jammu and Kashmir
Maharaja Gulab Singh statue near by Excise building Lakhanpur few meters to the entrance of the Bridge which is important place in Lakhanpur Kathua because when it is installed Yatris and tourist enter the J&K they first see the big Satute of First Ruler of Jammu and Kashmir and it was pleasure for whole india know the history of Dogra rulers .
The local residents had been come in shape of rally to the spot where the foundation stone was laid and local residents of Kathua awaiting of the statue for a long time. Municipal President Ravinder Kumar Sharma and Raghunandan DDC vice president said Maharaja Gulab singh was a great visionary who brought considerable reforms in the state during his regime .They said the Maharaja always worked for the development of downtrodden and oppressed class of society. It is a proud moment for everyone, they added. Jammu and Kashmir Dogras have emotional and historical attachment with this place. Maharaja Gulab Singh was the first ruler of erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir. He has earned the special place in the heart of people of Jammu and Kashmir, especially within Dogra youth.
By keeping this point in view we are now going to install big staute of Maharaja gulab singh with 20 feet height with the cost of 75 lakh The project includes the installation of horse riding satue of Maharaja Gulab Singh with lighting on the site and separate park and tourist facility. The site that Selected for Maharaja satute will be devotion and services to the Jammu and Kashmir is a source of information for all it also enhance the tourist potential in Jammu and Kashmir
Meanwhile Former Minister Choudhary Lal Singh of Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan talking to Early Times said this was my initiative and efforts during my tenure as MLA Basholi and It is unfortunate that I and People's of Basholi was not invited to the function despite the fact that the foundation stone of the statue was laid due to basholi people's efforts, he said. Choudhary Lal Singh said Maharaja Gulab Singh belonged to every resident of the state but a political party (BJP) had hijacked the entire show for political gains. Dogra Swabhiman Sangathan President Choudhary Lal Singh Further said "Representatives of all political parties should have been invited to the foundation stone function,” it is pertaining to mention here that District Devlopment council Chairman not seen during the function as he also belongs to Basholi constituency which falls under Lakhanpur Former Minister Rajiv jasrotia also not seen on the spot .
