| Grenadiers holds felicitation ceremony for veterans, Veer Naris | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 5: In the series of events organized to celebrate the spirit of Swarnim Vijay Varsh, the 50th anniversary of victory of Indian Army in historic 1971 Indo-Pak war, 8th Battalion of the Grenadiers held a felicitation ceremony for its veterans & Veer Naris.
The ceremony was attended by 1971 war Veterans, Veer Naris & Ex-Servicemen of Battalion.
In 1971 war, battle of CHAKRA was fought by 8 GRENADIERS on the banks of Karir river in Western Sector.
In a saga of valour and sacrifice, the well-fortified CHAKRA was captured by the gallant Battalion displaying heroic courage & indomitable spirit of its men. The Battalion was awarded Battle Honour of CHAKRA.
Battalion felicitated war widow of LNk Gullu Ram who made supreme sacrifice and 8 other veterans who participated in Battle of CHAKRA. During this event Battalion paid tribute to the heroes of 1971 war and remembered war veterans, war widows and Ex-servicemen for their invaluable service to the nation.
