JTC-SKF protest enters 429th day

JAMMU, Dec 5: A protest was held by the Jagti Tenement Committee (JTC) and Soan Kashmir Front (SKF) J&K at Jagti Township near Nagrota today under the chairmanship of JTC & SKF president, Shadi Lal Pandita.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also joined the protest in which the vice president of AAP Rajesh Gupta said that the government should meet their demands as soon as possible.
Addressing the protesters, Shadi Lal Pandita said that we have been protesting for last 429 days as the relief of Kashmiri migrant relief holders is very low which is preventing the relief holders from surviving in this era of inflation.
He appealed the Government to increase the monthly cash relief of relief holders from Rs 13,000 to Rs 25,000 per family per month immediately. He also demanded package of 20,000 jobs for unemployed youth of Kashmiri migrants and one job to each family which has no serving Government employee.
He further demanded three satellite townships be built in Kashmir Valley near Baramulla, Srinagar and Anantnag for return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits. Besides, compensation of 32 years property loss and balanced /pending ex-gratia of gutted houses, looted and damaged, properties be released in favour of affected families. He also demanded compensation for over aged youth, removal of encroachments from migrants, properties and religious places as well as grant of political and minority status to Kashmiri Pandits.
Pandita said that this agitation will continue as long as all the demands are met.
Others who participated in the protest sit-in included Kamal Ji Pandita, Vijay Bakshi, Charanjeet Singh, Rakesh Ambardar, Shuban Raina, Inder Ji Labroo, Rakesh Tickoo, GM Khan, Mithan Pandita, Satish Pandita, Vinod Bhat, Raj Kumar Bhat, Surinder zutshi, Om Prakash Mahajan, Gurmeet Singh, Ramesh Suri, ON Raina, Jaswant Singh and Ab Rahman Dar.
