UDHAMPUR, Dec 5: On December 2, Mehraj Ahmed of Karol, Ramban risked his own life by jumping into the mighty Chenab river to save an unknown drowning woman. He exhibited exemplary courage and swimming skills. Without caring for his own life, in a herculean effort of 20 minutes, he finally managed to save the woman. Though he had no formal training in swimming, the brave boy did not hesitate before diving into the deep river while many onlookers watched helplessly. A nick of time action, presence of mind, fearlessness and excellent swimming skills of Mehraj came in handy when he jumped into the deep river and saved the drowning lady. The brave and courageous action of Mehraj was praised by all present. To recognize his conspicuous bravery act, Indian Army felicitated Mehraj at Chanderkot, Ramban. His bravery and selfless service will remain a source of inspiration for people. |
