1/14/2022 10:35:11 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 14: Vice President Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency, Rajesh Gupta said that the recent move of J&K government providing 3 per cent reservation to people of Rajouri and Poonch should also include PoK Displaced persons.
Gupta said in a handout here today and he urged upon PM Modi led government to grant Scheduled Tribe (ST) status to all the Pahari Speaking People of J&K.
He said that the government should have taken all the Pahari Speaking People of J&K into consideration before granting reservation according to their cultural, linguistic and geographical identities and he questioned the logic behind providing reservation to handful people of Poonch and Rajouri under Pahari Speaking category.
AAP leader said, "The Pahari speaking people has as strong a claim to the status of a Scheduled Tribe as any other ethnic group that has been notified as a scheduled tribe. The Government of India, at the level of the Prime Minister, has repeatedly held out assurances that this demand will be accepted. To satisfy the genuine aspirations of the Pahari and to honor the political commitments made by the leadership of the country it is absolutely essential that the all Pahari speakers are granted Scheduled Tribe status."
