|DET celebrates Lohri, Makar Sankranti |

JAMMU, Jan 14: Dogra Educational Trust (DET) Bassi Kalan, Bari Brahmana, Jammu organized the first festival of the year, “Lohri” & Makar Sakranti today in the College. The celebrations started with Lohri Poojan by gathering around traditional bonfire, throwing sweets, puffed rice, and popcorn into the flames with chanting of mantras. After offering prayers, peanuts, rewri, flour and various food items were distributed among every one present on the occasion.
Th. Gulchain Singh Charak, former Minister & Chairman, Dogra Educational Trust was the Chief Guest on the occasion. In his address, the Chairman Trust highlighted that Lohri, ushers in the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter and that it is a festival fostering a healthy and happy society this harvest festival marks both celebrations and sharing and promotes national integrations.
The celebrations were a collective effort by the Dogra Group of Colleges under the banner of Dogra Educational Trust bidding all to enjoy the bounties of winter. Prominent among those present were Kr. Samar Dev Singh Charak, Secretary Dogra Educational Trust and, Vikesh, Principal Dogra College of Education, Bela Charak, Principal Dogra Degree College, Komila Aggarwal, Incharge Principal Dogra Law College, Shefali Sharma Academic Coordinator, the faculty members and the support staff of all the three colleges.
