GDC Sidhra observes National Youth Day

JAMMU, Jan 14: NSS Unit of Government Degree College (GDC) Sidhra under the patronage of Principal, Dr. Monika Sharma celebrated National Youth Day-2022, with an aim to enlighten the youth through the teachings and ideology of Swami Vivekananda, under the banner of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.
The philosophy of Swami ji and the ideals for which he lived and worked is a great source of inspiration for the Indian Youth. “The National Youth Festival is one of the biggest exercises in social cohesion and intellectual and social integration. It aims to bring diverse cultures of India and integrate them into a united thread of, Ek Bharat, Shrestha Bharat”.
NSS Unit organized Intra-college Poster making/ Slogan writing competition on the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda to recognise his contributions to the Indian Society. This day is celebrated to honour Swami Vivekananda, as well as encourage the youth to work hard and contribute to the overall development of the country. The results of poster making and Slogan competition were declared on January 12.
The participants were judged by Dr. Harpreet Kour, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science and Prof. Shonima Malhotra, Assistant Professor, Department of Sociology of the college. The first position was secured by Deepak Nischal of B. Com Sem V, while Moksh Bharadwaj of B.A Sem I and Toufeeq Umar of B.A Sem III were adjudged at second position and third position respectively.
Principal, Dr. Monika Sharma congratulated the meritorious students as well as the student participants for their participation in the event with full enthusiasm. The event was organized by Dr. Mehmood Ahmed, PO NSS Unit and Prof. Deepa Kak, Coordinator NSS Unit GDC Sidhra. The event was successful with the coordination of Prof. Rudrika Khajuria Assistant Professor, Dept. of English, GDC Sidhra.
