Early Times Report

Doda, Jan 14: The Government Medical College in Doda is yet another instance of carrying out development works in a haphazard manner and without planning.
The garbage dumps and incomplete drains are adding to the woes of the residents in the adjoining areas around GMC Doda.
According to the locals, the authorities leaving drains incomplete has made their lives miserable. “There is no proper sewerage system in place. All this drain water is flowing into our homes and is inundating us. This dirty water is posing a threat to our lives. Despite spending crores on government medical college building the authorities have not made any plan to set up a sewerage treatment plant to handle the environment pollution,” said a resident.
He said that protection walls around

the hospital have collapsed. “The administration is focusing on the buildings of the medical college and seems least bothered about the difficulties being faced by people.” The resident added.
Another local said, “They have brought the drain from city into our homes.
We have approached the concerned authorities on many occasions but no one is listening to us.”
He said, “When it rains we are unable to come out from our homes as the entire area gets flooded. Besides rain water, dirty water and sewerage enters our home. It seems for administration we don’t even exist. Is this the Swach Bharat we are talking about?”
The locals said that the administration has no Master Plan for Doda city. “It’s sheer negligence. We have been left to fend on our own during Covid times,” they added.
