SRINAGAR, Jan 17: Jammu and Kashmir police has produced a charge sheet in a National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Anantnag under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) against an alleged militant associate for helping two Laskher-e-Taiba (LeT) militants in carrying out an attack.
Both Lashkar militants have been killed few months back. On September 26, 2020, some unknown militants fired indiscriminately upon police personnel near Behibagh Police Station in Kulgam district, the police said. "However, Police personnel retaliated effectively, but the terrorists taking advantage of darkness and with the help of their terror associate managed to flee from the spot," the details in the charge sheet said
A case under UAPA was registered in Police Station Behibagh and investigation started, police said.
"...It came to surface that two terrorists of proscribed terrorist outfit LeT identified as Amir Ahmad Mir and Amir Manzoor Ganie (both neutralized) were involved in the firing incident on police personnel at Behibagh" he said.
The investigation revealed the involvement of one militant associate who was identified as Suhail Ahmad.
"With strenuous efforts the said terrorist associate was arrested and from his possession illegal arms and ammunition along with other incriminating material was recovered.
"Investigation of the case was carried out in a professional manner and all evidence including digital evidence were collected by the investigation team and on January 15, 2022 the chargesheet of the said case was produced before NIA court in Anantnag," the police added.
