Mukti NGO demands Policy formulation for Re-Conducting Exams of Covid Positive Students
1/19/2022 11:02:57 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 19: Mukti Society NGO President Nidhi Sharma appealed Manoj Sinha, Lieutenant Governor J & K Union Territory who is also Chancellor of all universities to formulate a uniform policy for Re-conducting examination of Covid Positive students belonging to different universities.
Taking cognizance of a media report of a hapless and helpless girl student of Cluster university who despite being Covid positive was forced to undergo her examination there at Science College center Jammu.
Nidhi requested the LG to re-conduct examinations of all students who could not appear in their exams because of COVID-19.
In a press statement issued by the NGO, its Chairperson has urged the LG Sinha to personally look into the issue that under what circumstances a COVID-19 positive girl student of Cluster University of Jammu (CUJ) was forced to appear in an offline exam and appear personally, putting her own and others' life at risk.
She said it was ironic how a girl suffering from COVID-19 had been forced to appear in the exam in person despite the directives. Further President MUKTI NGO said an explanation needs to be sought on why the educational institutions in Jammu were conducting exams despite the surge of COVID-19 when the educational institutions in Kashmir had postponed the scheduled exams.
She also demanded fixation of responsibilities on this serious issue and action against the authorities who were lax in their responsibilities.
Keeping the third wave of COVID-19 in view, the administration needs to get its act together and ensure that people do not suffer due to unnecessary hassle and incompetence of administration and university do not become the cause of Covid infection. She also expressed her concern over the criminal silence adopted by Jammu district administration over this serious issue.
