NAHEP-IDP SKUAST Jammu organizes lecture on soft skills

JAMMU, Jan 21: NAHEP-IDP SKUAST-Jammu, under the guidance of Prof. JP Sharma, Vice Chancellor, organized online guest lecture for the students on "Leadership Attributes and Decision Making". The lecture was delivered by Dr. Vishal Bector, Professor and Associate Director (Industrial Linkages), Punjab Agricultural University Ludhiana. In his lecture Dr. Bector talked about the qualities of good leader such as forward looking, competent, honest, empower people, inspire people, set examples, lead change and should have vision. Dr. Bector also emphasized how personal management, discipline, prioritizing events, differentiating between urgent and important can help in improving the work efficiency. He further discussed about decision making process and highlighted that which style to use and when requires an understanding of authority and role as leader, the expectations of organization and type of decisions to be made. He also added that for strong decision making, leaders need to be aware of, have control over and express their emotions in healthy and measured manner. During the lecture there was a healthy interaction and the speaker motivated the students to give their opinions. The lecture was attended by both students and faculty members. Prof. B C Sharma, PI of IDP-NAHEP & HoD, Agronomy and Prof. Vikas Sharma, Co-PI, IDP-NAHEP & HoD Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry also attended the lecture. Proceedings of the programme were conducted by Prof. Sanjay Guleria, Incharge, Counselling & Placement Cell and Associated Scientist NAHEP-IDP.
