Early Times Report

Jammu, Jan 23: The sudden and untimely death of veteran politician Yashpal Sharma, ex-MLC has created a deep void in the political field of Jammu and Kashmir and this void is impossible to fulfill.
With his death, the Jammu region in general and Poonch district, in particular, has lost a sensible voice as he was the only leader in this region who command respect among all sections of the society. He was popular among Hindus and Muslims of the Poonch district. He was rather a bridge between Hindus and Muslims of the border district of Poonch.
Although he lost successive assembly elections through narrow margins due to the dirty politics of cunning politicians, he was the undisputed leader of the Poonch district.
Suffixed with the title of ‘Sher-e-Poonch’, he was a veteran and sensible voice in the politics of Jammu and Kashmir.
He is one of the most prominent leaders of Poonch who lead the 1978 agitation Historical Poonch agitation famous was held to protest against step-motherly treatment with Poonch by the State Govt. There was a large scale of unemployment almost of educated youth were jobless. After that massive agitation, the state govt have to take a step back and give jobs to the educated youth of Poonch.
Ex-MLC Yashpal Sharma died after suffering a massive cardiac arrest last night, family sources said on Sunday. He was 76.
“Shocked to hear about the sudden demise of Yashpal Sharma Ji, PDP senior leader & a dear friend of Mufti sahib. His death is an irreparable loss not only to the party but to society as a whole. My heartfelt condolences to the family & may God give them the strength to bear this loss”, PDP president and former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti tweeted.
Yashpal Sharma remained associated with the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed throughout his life. Since the days of Janta Dal, Yashpal Sharma was a close confidant of the late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
