Kishtwar DDC chairperson refuses to budge

KISHTWAR, Jan 23: The dharna of DDC Chairperson Kishtwar in support of the demands for adjustment of local unemployed youths today enter day 5th following the failure of the talks with the administration and project management.
As per the details available with Early Times, District Administration Kishtwar rushed a team of senior officials led by SDM Inderjeet Singh Parihar, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Zakir Hussain Wani, Tehsildar Mughal Maidan, Naeem Iqbal and Assistant Commissioner Labour Kishtwar to Dangdoru with an aim to motivate the DDC Chairperson and others to lift the Dharna.
The dharna has been organized to garner job opportunities for the local unemployed youth of the union territory while at the same time the DDC Chairperson and her Deputy holding the constitutional posts under Panchayat Raj Institution were sitting on Dharna since last five days.
Speaking to Early Times, Pooja Thakur said that the administration and project management had again approached her and others including Vice Chairperson Saima Parveen, DDC Nagsini Faisal, DDC member Palmar/Dool Tahir Masood and assured them that the issues and demands raised by them will be addressed, but all the visiting officials beside project management and officials of CVPPP fail to give written assurances.
“They in principle agreed that our demands are genuine-but no one is coming to table with written document- they are just sulking from one place to another place to take final signal from senior officials,” said Thakur. She said that she will continue to carry her fight no matter it continue till weeks or month together.
A senior official said, “We are close to end the deadlock-talks are on-we will hopefully resume the talks in the morning.” He did not specify the time frame that possible required to end the deadlock between the agitating DDC Chairperson, other elected representatives and the government.
