Rural populace facing official apathy in absence of popular Govt: Yashu Vardhan
5/24/2022 10:30:09 PM
Early Times Report
KALAKOTE, May 24: Yashu Vardhan Singh, Additional Spokesperson National Conference expressed resentment against the government for not clearing pending wages under the MGNREGA rural employment guarantee Scheme.
In this context, a delegation of MGNREGA workers today met Yashu Vardhan Singh and apprised him of the problems being faced by them with regard to non-clearance of their pending dues.
The National Conference leader has asked the government to clear the pending wages and dues under MGNREGA failing which the party will come on roads. "The MGNREGA workers in rural areas have lost their faith in the scheme due to non-payment of timely wages. No new development works has been undertaken since 2018, clearly reflecting the present status of this flagship programme in J&K," he said.
Expressing serious concern over the issue of daily wagers, Yashu Vardhan said that it is really an irony that they have not been paid salaries for the last more than two years and they along with their families are struggling for their survival. He said the inefficiency of the government can be well gauged from the fact that the far flung areas of Kalakote constituency are facing electricity and water crisis for the past some days and none in the administration seems to be least bothered thus leaving the people to fend for themselves. The people in this constituency are facing huge hardships on the aforesaid counts especially amidst inflation and rocketing prices already having broken the backbone of the common man, he added.
The NC leader asked the Lieutenant Governor to take serious note of these issues and clear the pending wages of MGNREGA workers at the earliest. He also urged the Lt Governor to give necessary directions to the authorities concerned for providing basic amenities to the rural populace who are facing official apathy in absence of popular government in the Jammu and Kashmir.
