BJP exploiting Kashmiri Pandits: Mehbooba
5/24/2022 10:39:00 PM
Early Times Report
SRINAGAR, May 24: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party President (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday accused Bharatiya Janata (BJP) of exploiting Kashmiri Pandits for political gain.
She said BJP has done 'nothing for the welfare of the community'.
"Whatever possible rehabilitation for Kashmiri Pandits has been done, it is by the during Manmohan Singh's tenure or when Mufti Mohammad Sayeed) and (Ghulam Nabi) Azad or Omar (Abdullah) were here (as CMs)," Mehbooba told reporters here. She said whether it was construction of special colonies or the Prime Minister's package, it was done during Manmohan Singh's tenure.
She asked BJP as what they have done for the Pandits?
"They (BJP) have been directly ruling Kashmir for the last four years, tell me one thing they have done for them?," she asked.
Reacting to the ongoing protests by Kashmiri Pandits, former erstwhile state CM said their anger is justified.
The Pandits who are serving in Kashmir under Prime Minister's special package are on protest following the killing of a revenue employee Rahul Bhat on May 12 at Tehsil office Chadoora.
"The protest of Kashmiri Pandits and their anger is justified as BJP had always used them for their own interests," Mehbooba said.
