Chib demands regularization, salary hike of Rehbar-e-Khel teachers
5/27/2022 10:47:20 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, May 27: AAP senior leader Sandeep Singh Chib Friday urged upon the Lt Governor of Jammu and Kashmir UT Manoj Sinha that Rehbar-e-Khel Physical Education Teachers should be regularized on priority basis who are working in Youth Services and Sports Department as they all facing exploitation by getting Rs 4000 month only.
Pointing out that Supreme Court of India has also advocated equal work for equal pay, Chib said that these Rehbar-e-Khel are getting only Rs 4000 month as honorarium for till completion of 7 years and their regularization depending upon their performances and availability of the post. "It is great injustice for young employees who are also future of our country and all having degrees of B.P.Ed , M.P.Ed , M.Phil and Phd," he added.Chib said that parents of these youth, who belongs to low income group, have supported them for obtaining their higher Technical degrees but now they all facing financial crisis due to very low monthly honorarium. "Rehbar-e-Khel teachers have no other better income source. They are totally dependent on this monthly honorarium," he said.
"How Rehber-e-Khel physical teacher will perform their duties best for the physical development of a child when they themself have not been satisfied financially and their mental health will also get disturbed due to uncertainty of their families and because of these facts, Government should give first priority for their regularization for the betterment of students physical health for better citizen of India," Chib said .
Chib said ReKPET scheme was introduced by the erstwhile state government of J&K and subsequently 3000 teachers were appointed. As per scheme, such teachers are receiving mere Rs. 4000 per month besides seven years probation, which is a grave injustice with them as other appointed using same procedure have five years probation period. They reached out to every possible authority for the redressal of their demands but all in vain. The UT administration had constituted a committee in this regard but no one knows what happened aftermath. With the amendment in SRO 202, the REKPET deserved same treatment with them also. He demanded that they should be regularized & other facilities as par with SRO 202 employees.
Chib reminded LG Administration that Department of J&K Youth Services and Sports had recruited Rehbar-e Khel teachers in the year 2019 in different Schools of Jammu and Kashmir in order to uplift the Youth Service and Sports Department in Union Territory. "It is really not possible in today's world to fulfil the daily basic needs of physical education teachers. More than 50% of the teachers are married and have families who are wholly and solely dependent on these near over 100 rupees.Chib observed that rules of the policy are somehow discriminatory and unjust and requested Lt Governor Manoj Sinha to redressed the grievances at the earliest so that they will not face the problems ahead. The honorable Prime Minister in his Man ki Baat programme promised to implement the Minimum Wages Act in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Having said so, he requested that the genuine demands of Rehbar-e-khel teachers be accepted and much needed relief be provided to them.
