GDC Boys Kathua organizes International Yoga Day"

JAMMU, June 15: An international webinar in commemoration of "International Yoga Day" on theme Health Fitness and Yoga- "A Holistic Approach" was organized by the Department of Physical Education & Sports in collaboration with IQUAC, Govt. Degree College (Boys) Kathua. The Webinar, 4th consecutive virtual interactive session in continuation to the pre-Olympic e-Dialogue series on Olympics 2024, was organized under the Patronship of Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Principal, Govt. Degree College (Boys), Kathua. The programme was marked with the presence of eminent researchers of national and international repute in the field of Physical Education, Sports, Physiotherapy and sports science. More than 200 participants from 16 countries of the world including Turkeye, USA, UK, Israel, Bulgaria, Phillipine, Malaysia, Srilanka, Uganda, Bangladesh, UAE, Australia, Germany, Spain, Pakistan and India attended the webinar. The Department of Physical Education, GDC Kathua felicitated Smt. Neha Rathi, Indian Wrestler and Commonwealth Games Medalist Arjuna Awardee Guest of Honour in the august presence of Esteemed Principal Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia and the audience by a certificate and an appreciation letter duly signed by the Principal GDC Kathua. The Principal Govt. Degree College Kathua Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, presented formal welcome address to the Guest of honour, Key note speakers from Sofia, Bulgaria and all the participants from different countries. He also appreciated the efforts of organizing committee members, especially the organizing secretary Dr J S Soodan, Physical Director for his high caliber and progressive efforts for providing this college International platform through four International Webinars in India and abroad and for the smooth conduct of International webinar proceedings. He expressed his gratitude to Smt. Neha Rathi, Commonwealth &Asain games Medalist and Arjuna Awardee for being the guest of honour of this international event. In her address, Smt. Neha Rathi, Arjuna Awardee said that such type of webinars are very much required for the development of Sports through the incorporation of Yogic Science and Sports Science as major discipline to provide the Scientific Backup to elite sports persons for high performance. Prof. sumanesh Jasrotia, the Principal GDC Kathua in his address, highly appreciated the efforts made by the Organizing team of this 4th International Webinar and stressed that this is going to help students as well as faculty in better understanding the importance of Health Fitness and Yoga for sedentary population and its role in physical and psychological wellbeing of youngsters and old age people in general and sports person in particular. Eminent speakers from foreign countries presented their views on different aspects of "Health Fitness and Yoga- "A Holistic Approach". Dr Zornitza Mladenova, from Sofia Bulgaria, who is also the SFLV of Global Community Health, USA spoke on the topic "Holistic Approach in Physical Education Classes in Digital Era" She was the part of Olympic Council of National Olympic Academy "Vassil Laviski" Bulgaria. The session was beautifully moderated by Dr Neha Bandral, Asistant Professor and Head, Department of Economics, GDC Kathua. The second key note Speaker, who enthralled the participants was Dr. Pinar Yaprak, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Sports Science, Gazi University, Turkiye. She has delivered her lecture on the topic "The Traces of Holism, Yoga, Physical Activity and Health in Juxtaposition" Presently, She has guidance on analysis of Deaf Sports in Turkiye, Marmara University, Institute of Health Sciences Turkiye. This session was wonderfully moderated by Prof. Esha Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of Hindi, GDC Kathua. Dr Jewelson Santos, Associate Professor and President of IAPES from Thailand and Dr Faisal Fayaz from Pakistan also Shared their views on International Yoga Day.The technical supports was provided by Prof. Anoop Sharma, Assistant Professor and Prof. Surbhi Gupta, Assistant Professor Department of Computer Science, GDC Kathua.The 4th International Event of GDC Kathua was witnessed by the Advisory Committee members Prof. Romila Guleria, Prof. Seema Malpotra, Prof. Raj Kiran, Prof. Jaswinder Singh, Prof. Rakesh Singh Jasrotia HOD Chemistry and Prof. Ritu Bhagat. The organizing committee members, who have ensured the success of 4th international webinar were Dr. Shub Kumar, Dr Shivani Kotwal, Dr Chetna Gupta, Dr Kailash Sharma,Dr Upasna, Dr Ambika, Dr Amita Dua, Prof. Anoop Sharma, Dr Roshan Lal, Dr Verinder Singh and Prof. Surbhi Gupta all from GDC Kathua. Prof.Raj Kiran, Associate Professor and Convenor, College Sports Board, GDC Kathua presented a highly decorated formal vote of thanks at the end of the 4th International webinar organized by Department of Physical Education GDC Kathua. This 4th International webinar was a great success and reflected the constant endeavors of GDC Kathua in disseminating knowledge even in the virtual mode.
