Early Times Report
JAMMU, June 15: To commemorate 200th coronation year of first Dogra ruler of princely State of Jammu & Kashmir, Maharaja Gulab Singh, Natrang on the behalf of Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust with the support of Jammu Club and CSIR-IIIM, Jammu screened 'Gulab Gaatha at Jammu Club and at the auditorium of CSIR-IIIM, Jammu simultaneously here today.
The screening was started to mark the 200th coronation year of Maharaja Gulab Singh on 11th of June, 2022 at Udhampur (two screenings) followed by Reasi (three screenings) on 12th of June, 2022, Kathua on 13th of June, 2022, Samba on 14th of June, 2022 and concluded today with two screening in Jammu thus making it to nine shows which received overwhelming public response. These screenings were organised by Natrang on behalf of Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial Trust to commemorate 200th coronation celebrations of Maharaja Gulab Singh and also to sensitize the masses regarding their history.
In a statement, Gaurav Gupta Secretary Jammu club lauded the efforts made by Maharaja Gulab Singh Memorial trust and Natrang to come up with a film on Dogra Ruler. He complimented the team to Natrang for their efforts to screen the film in the vicinity of Jammu Club which helped everyone to know about their history and culture of this region that is not exposed to the world.
It is pertinent to mention here that Dr. Karan Singh inspired Balwant Thakur to write, produce and direct this first ever film in the year 2017 on the history of the great Dogra ruler who created the larger princely state of India. Sharing his views, Director Natrang Padmashree Balwant Thakur said that Natrang prides itself in the fact that it produced the first ever film on the creator of Jammu & Kashmir. Lot of research and collaborative effort has gone into the production of Gulab Gatha. He thanked Dr. Karan Singh for bestowing faith in him and his team and supported in realising this big dream production. As we are celebrating the 200th coronation day of Maharaja Gulab Singh, it is the high time that we all volunteer to take this film to every home in J&K and sensitize younger generations about their mind blowing rich past.
The film 'Gulab Gatha' is about the journey of a soldier who achieves great success at everything he initiated. His unquestionable obligatory obedience towards Lahore Durbar, his unconditional sacrifice and his conception of a kingdom has been regarded and given value in this. The greatness of leaders is not just in their works but in the way they have been appreciated and personified in the eyes of the people. Napoleon was a military and political hero of France and Alexander has been applauded for his greatness for his conquest. Gulab Singh as an emperor held the same qualities of being a courageous warrior. He was a normal person with no lineage of royalty but he established himself as a King with the help of his bravery and continued to keep a hold on his empire because of his well-planned strategic and diplomatic intelligence. The screenings were coordinated by Neeraj Kant, Sumeet Sharma, Mohd. Yaseen, Pooja Mahajan, Sartaj Singh, Rahul Singh, Kushal Bhat and Brijesh Avtar Sharma.
