Guidance and Counselling Cell Kishtwar hosts online Interactive session for students

KISHTWAR, June 28: Guidance and Counselling Cell, School Education Department Kishtwar today hosted an online Interactive session for the students on Drug De-Addiction awareness. The Webinar was held under the close supervision of Chief Education Officer Sudershan Kumar Sharma under the Manodarpan initiative of the Ministry of Education.
About 100 students and teachers from different Zones of Kishtwar participated in the webinar besides many students across the district also live streamed the interactive session.
Director School Education Jammu Dr. Ravi Shanker Sharma was the chief guest in the programme, who inaugurated the session with his inaugural speech.
Others who attended the Webinar were Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kishtwar Sudershan Kumar Sharma, Head Guidance and Career Counselling Cell Directorate of school Education, Jammu (DSEJ) Dr Romesh Sharma, member counsellor Dr Alka Sharma, District Counselling Co-ordinator Kishtwar Sandeep Rathore, District Counsellor Kishtwar Arvind Sen besides other concerned staff members of CEO Office Kishtwar.
The programme was moderated by the District Counsellor and the District Counselling Co-ordinator Kishtwar.
The programme commenced with the welcome address by CEO Kishtwar who threw light on the aim and objectives of conducting such a programme. The major attractions of the programme were folk songs, poster display, Skits, debate which were beautifully and in a magnificent manner presented by the participating students namely Varsha Kumari, Amina Bashir, Anshul, Rohit Thakur, Rahul Kumar, Shamsher Singh, Ranti Dev Singh, Sapna Raina, Chavi Raina, Iram Sabha and others to raise the awareness against the prevailing Drug abuse among the Young students of district Kishtwar. Several Heads of Institutions had made Necessary arrangements to live stream the session at their respective schools. During the interaction session, Director School Education Jammu Dr. Ravi Shanker Sharma stressed on the importance of organizing such awareness programmes and congratulated the CEO Kishtwar for making these programmes successful.
Meanwhile, he also highlighted the importance of creating awareness among youth regarding drug abuse and deliberated on the drug addiction scenario in Jammu division.
Head Guidance and Counselling Cell Directorate of school Education, Jammu (DSEJ), Dr Romesh Sharma also spoke on the occasion and gave a brief description about the current scenario of substance abuse at global, national and state level,risk factors and the consequences of drug addiction with the focus on adolescents being the target population besides highlighted the different causes of drug addictions, prevention strategies of substance abuse and shared the data of use of substance in UT of J&K.
The programme was concluded by positive remarks from various participants and vote of thanks was presented by district co-ordinator Counselling Cell Kishtwar.
