Sainik Sshool Nagrota retain its north zone English debate trophy

Jammu, July 12: Hosts Sainik School Nagrota proved their mettle at the podium by retaining the coveted English Debate Trophy for the second year in a row. Cadet Abrar Ali stood at Individual Third Position and with a spirited support by his team mate Cadet Gurpreet Singh Mehta, the school clinched the Trophy convincingly. Cadet Sukrit Bansal of Sainik School Kapurthala stood First and Cadet Suyesh of Sainik School Rewari bagged the Second Prize in the debate.
On the field, Sainik School Nagrota began their soccer campaign scored an emphatic win over Sainik school Mainpuri in Football U-17 Juniors by defeating the latter by 7-0 in the evening session of the first day of the North Zone Inter Sainik School Sports Meet-2022. Cadet Deepak Kumar netted five goals while Cadet Jigmet and Cadet Akhil left the new entrants SS Mainpuri dazzled with two more goals. The thunderclap for the reigning Champions SS Kunjpura came when Sainik School Nagrota trounced them 4-2 in the first hockey league match played in the evening. It was also an equally productive day for Sainik School Kapurthala (Punjab) who besides winning Hindi Debate in the morning, managed to defeat defending champions Sainik School Kunjpura by 22/25, 25/13, 25/16.
The morning session, on the second day, had mixed fortunes for Sainik School Kunjpura as they defeated arch-rivals Sainik School Ghorakhal in Hockey by 3-1 while hosts continued their winning streak in Volleyball by defeating Sainik School Sujanpur Tira in straight sets. League matches will conclude on 13 July as teams compete to enter into knock-outs with comfortable points tally.
