Early Times Report JAMMU, July 20: Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences, Central University of Jammu celebrated 1st International Moon Day on 20 July 2022 by conducting an offline Quiz on theme "Lunar Exploration, Coordination & Sustainability." This is one of the most significant events in the human history for which United Nations General Assembly has approved on December 9, 2021 that the International Moon Day will be celebrated across the world from 20 July 2022 onwards. The present day commemorates the landing of Neil Armstrong for the first time on moon on July 20, 1969. Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences, Central University of Jammu conducted an offline quiz with 60 MCQs in which students and research scholars across various Departments (Department of Environmental Sciences, Physics & Astronomical Sciences, Public Policy & Public Administration, NSS, Economics, Educational Studies, Botany, Chemistry, etc.) participated in huge number with great enthusiasm. Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sanjeev Jain Central University of Jammu appreciated the efforts made by the organizers and during his address he laid emphasis that Top-Bottom (inaugural festivals) and Bottom-Up (other global events) approaches will be used to organize the future events on moon. Dr. Vinay Kumar, Convener, Satish Dhawan Centre for Space Sciences briefed the students on the various moon missions undertaken by Developed and Developing Nations. Dr. Pankaj Mehta, Organizing Secretary and Coordinator, Department of Earth Sciences in his address briefed the students on the history, significance and the reasons for the celebration of International Moon Day 2022. Research Scholars, Bhawana Sharma and Preeti Verma, of Department of Environmental Sciences, compared the stage and coordinated for the successful conduction of the offline Quiz on the theme "Lunar Exploration, Coordination & Sustainability".
