Police arrests five extortionists in Budgam

SRINAGAR, July 21: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday claimed to have busted a gang of five extortionists, including a woman, in Budgam district.
Police said the gang used to call some people to their home on one or the other pretext to rob them by threatening with knives.
Police said the gang used to capture a video of a victim with a lady who happens to be the wife of one of the gang members demanding money after threatening to release the video of the victim with the lady in compromising position.
A case under sections 341, 365, 342, 388, 392, 307, 34-IPC stands registered at Police Station Beerwah.
Police also seized cell phone, cash and other materials snatched from the complainant and knives used to threaten. Moreover some cell phones of accused with objectionable videos/photos and other material have also been recovered.
The accused were identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat a resident of HanjiGuru (house owner), Rouf Ahmad Dar alias Kantroo of Arizal, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan alias Jamal of Arizal, Farooq Ahmad Ganai of Kralnewa and (Name withheld) Wife of Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Hanjiguru were arrested.
Further investigation into the case was on, police added.
