Early Times Report

Jammu, Aug 5: Senior BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta said that BJP Government led by PM Narendra Modi had ended the hegemony of Kashmir’s dynastic parties by scrapping Article 370 as earlier leadership of these parties used to blackmail centre on different issues keeping the central government to ransom.
The BJP stalwart was addressing an impressive gathering here at Gandhi Nagar during a function to celebrate the third anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 wherein a large number of Gorkha community members were present.
Kavinder said that it was on this day in August 2019, when provisions of Article 370, which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, were abrogated by the Modi Government and the erstwhile State was bifurcated into Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh UTs. Citing benefits of abrogation of the contentious Article 370, Kavinder said that after the revocation of Article 370, all Central laws and various welfare schemes were made applicable in J&K and the decision has also paved the way for attracting investment in the region which in turn has brought in colossal development which is being appreciated by the common man, which earlier used to confront dearth of facilities and development deficit.
He said besides many other things, tourism in Jammu and Kashmir has got a real boost.
Kavinder said that J&K has been witnessing a record footfall of tourists at airports and tourist places in Jammu and Kashmir and over one crore people have landed in the UT between January and July this year making a record and testifying that BJP Government’s decision to abrogate Article 370 was precisely the best one for the UT of J&K.
The BJP senior functionary also felicitated the meritorious students of the Gorkha community, who excelled in the board exams.
Those who were felicitated include Muskan Rana (Sportsperson), Devshish, Kanan, Bhumi Chhetri, Dewang Singh Rana, Harsh Singh, Varun Kumar, Sader, Inivautika and Mayan Chhetri.
