BIS organizes two-day capsule course

Jammu, Aug 5: BIS Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office successfully organized a Two-Day Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel on Packaged Drinking Water (PDW) on 04-05 August 2022 at its Branch Office, Bari Brahmana. The program was attended by Chemists and Microbiologists from more than 20 packaged drinking water industries of Jammu and Kashmir and Pathankot.
The program started with welcome address by Sh. Satyadeo Lal, Sr. Director and Head BIS JKBO in which he informed participants that the main objective of the Capsule Course is capacity building of industry so as to raise the quality level in the country. He further added that through this program, QCPs will be imparted training on requirements, methods of sampling and tests of PDW as prescribed in Indian Standards, BIS e-Portal for online operations of ISI Mark licences and BIS Guidelines for effective implementation of Indian Standards. He urged the participants to best utilise this unique and tailor made training program to harness their knowledge and testing skills.
Later, Ms. Nisha Bura and Sh. Pankaj Atri, Joint Directors of JKBO gave detailed presentations on organoleptic, physico-chemical, microbiological and hygiene related requirements of standards, GMP, testing procedures, Risk Analysis and BIS Guidelines for grant of licence, change of scope, renewal, unsatisfactory performance of licence and product non-conformities. New features of BIS website such as Know Your Standards, Standard of Week/Month, manakonline website and BIS Care App were also demonstrated. The sessions were made interactive through open house discussions on best practices being followed by industries in J&K in manufacturing and testing.
On the second day, the participants were taken for a tour to BIS licensee for PDW, M/s Jai Beverages to witness manufacturing process and testing activities. The BIS initiative of QCP Training was taken as a welcome step towards enhancing quality consciousness.
