KATHUA, Aug 16: Independence Day was celebrated with unprecedented national fervour at IRP 19th Battalion Headquarters Kathua where SSP Benam Tosh Commandant IRP 19th Battalion hoisted the national flag, inspected ID parade and took salute at march past in the presence of other Police officers.
March past was followed by well organized cultural programme amid mesmerizing patriotic songs & slogans of "Jai Hind" & "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" as part of Independence Day celebration. At the end of impressive national function, rewards / trophies were given away to the officers and Jawans who performed commendable duties during the celebrations of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, Har Ghar Tiranga programme and Independence Day Parade.
In his inspiring speech on the occasion, SSP Benam Tosh said that India has made tremendous progress in all fields after Independence and has become sound and self- reliant economically. He further said that India is capable of giving befitting reply to the enemies and has wiped out militancy from most of the infested areas in J&K . Benam Tosh exhorted the Police officers and Jawans to thwart the nefarious designs of the anti national elements weed out militants and eradicate corruption. "Handful of elements are still hell bent to carry out disruptive activities, vitiate atmosphere and create terror among peaceful people, but their ill intentions will be neutralized", he said adding that malaise of corruption has been controlled to a greater extent but not completely vanished as yet despite sincere efforts and police should tighten noose against corrupt elements to free the society from corrupt practices and bribery.
Referring to the sacrifices of Jammu Kashmir Police, Para Military Forces and Army vis-a- vis maintenance of security and fight against militants , SSP Benam Tosh told that hundreds of officers and jawans have laid down their precious lives for the sake of the nation in line of duty during the past over thirty years of turmoil in J&K to whom nation is indebted and will always remember and salute them for their supreme sacrifices made in the national interest. It is due to them that the militancy is waning and terror- free atmosphere is prevailing.
