POONCH, Aug 18: To kick start the activities of recently registered "Poonch Farmer Producer Cooperative", Deputy Registrar Cooperatives, Vishal Deep Chandan and Senior Scientist KVK, Ajay Gupta on Thursday held an interactive session with the management of the FPC.
At the outset, Deputy Registrar Cooperatives gave a detailed presentation, highlighting the concept note of multi society cooperative model, with the forward and backward linkages. Individual projects were discussed in detail and suggestions for improvement were sought from all stakeholders.
Elaborating the concept note, the house was informed that Maize has been chosen as a central crop for all value addition and supply chain as local Poonch maize has a reputation of unique germ plasm with extra tasty traits. Moreover, it is a staple food and has the potential to significantly improve farmers' income.
Elaborating further, the Deputy Registrar apprised the farmers about the importance of cooperative farming to promote Sahakar se Samriddhi (prosperity through cooperation) through land pooling, crop polling etc to significantly improve income and employment generation.
Senior scientist KRISHI Vigyan Kendra, Ajay Gupta highlighted the importance of adopting modern farming practices throughout the value chain starting from farm mechanisation to market linkages through high yielding varieties and many more forward linkages.
The meeting was attended by various progressive farmers of Degwar village, Director and CEO of Poonch FPC, staff of Cooperative Department and Krishi Vigyan Kendra Poonch.
