DC reviews implementation of Forest Rights Act

RAMBAN, Aug 18: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ramban, Mussarat Islam, who is also the chairman of District Level Forest Rights Act Committee (DLFRAC), today convened a meeting to review the implementation of Forest Rights Act 2006 in the district. Additional Deputy Commissioner Harbans Lal; ACR, Gias Ul Haq; DFO Dr. Rajan Singh and other committee members attended the meeting. SDM Ramsoo Vikar Ahmed Giri, SDM Banihal Zaheer Abass and other concerned officers joined the meeting through virtual mode. The DFO Ramban informed that 133 claims have been disposed of.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Chairpersons of multi level Committees to process the claims expeditiously so that the same are examined and forwarded to the Sub Divisional Committee and then the District-level Committee for further necessary action. The directions were issued to conduct special Gram Sabhas in all the Panchayats, where the claims have been received on top priority and clear the pendency within one-week time.
The SDLC wise review was taken and the Chairperson SDLCs assured that more than 200 claims would be disposed of at Gram Sabhas and SDLC levels within one week.
The concerned departments were asked to extend full support to the FRCs in ground verification and pull off non performing FRCs and review progress at SDLC level regularly.
