Tragedy hits KPs again
8/18/2022 10:47:49 PM

Attack on Kashmiri Pandit brothers at Chontipora village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district has once again created fear among the members of the minority community in the Valley.
Terrorists on Tuesday fired upon two non-migrant cousins, Sunil Kumar Bhat and Pitember Nath when they were busy working in their orchard. Sunil succumbed, while Pitember Nath sustained injuries. Three KP families, including the family of Sunil had not left the Valley in 1990, and had stayed back.
The attack brought the local Muslims out on streets and they staged a demonstration against the gruesome terror attack. They performed the last rites of Sunil and stood with his family in the hour of grief.
The act evoked widespread condemnation from every section of the society and plunged the entire Chontipora village into mourning. Killing of an unarmed Kashmiri Pandit, whose family didn’t migrate from the Valley, has left everyone shell shocked. It has once again brought to fore the ugly face of terror and has proven it beyond doubt that terror has no religion and anyone in Kashmir can become a target. Pakistan and the terrorists sponsored by it want to keep the pot boiling by killing innocents.
The security forces have already identified the accused terrorists, who attacked Sunil, one of the accused terrorist escaped from cordon and search operation, but his three brothers and father have been arrested, while the process to attach his property has started. There is no possibility about the accused being spared, his fate will be sealed soon, but the unfortunate part is that his act has devastated Sunil’s family. They have lost a bread earner, who had nothing to do with politics. He was killed for none of his fault. Kashmir during the past 30-years has witnessed enough bloodshed and members of the majority community have understood that these cold blooded murders are not taking them anywhere. They have stopped supporting terrorists and are no more interested in separatism and secession. They want to live in peace but Pakistan is not allowing them to do so. It’s radicalizing Kashmiri youth, who are killing innocents. As on date Pakistan stands exposed as killings of innocents are being condemned by one and all. Heart goes out for Sunil’s family, which stayed in Kashmir when other members of their community left.
