Jammu, Aug 29: The Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau, Jammu and Kashmir, Sh. Rajinder Chaudhry today said that the ‘Azadi Quest’, a series of online educational mobile games is an effort of the government to engage youth in nation building through infotainment. The Additional Director General said this while addressing a press briefing at Jammu about the launch of ‘Azadi Quest’, a series of online educational mobile games developed by the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting in collaboration with Zynga India.
Chaudhary said that the launch of ‘Azadi Quest’ by the Union Minister of Information an Broadcasting, Government of India, Sh. Anurag Thakur is another step in a series of efforts by the government to acknowledge the contribution of freedom fighters and unsung heroes during the freedom struggle of India.
Chaudhary emphasized that Government of India through its various arms has collected information about the unsung freedom fighters across the country & ‘Azadi Quest' is an effort to make learning of this knowledge engaging and interactive”.
He also informed that ‘Azadi Quest’ is an effort to tap into the huge market of online gamers as gaming sector has grown by 28% in 2021 alone and by 2023 the number of such gamers is expected to reach 45
crores. This, ‘Azadi Quest’ will be among the best steps of the government to educate gamers about the contribution of freedom fighters of the country, he added.
Chaudhary also said that as India has risen to stand among the top 5 countries in the gaming sector, these apps will definitely bolster the capabilities of our AVGC (animation, visual effects, gaming and comics) sector and at the same time take our glorious history to the corners of the world. Chaudhary informed that the first two games in the ‘Azadi Quest’ series tell the story of India’s freedom struggle, highlighting key milestones and heroes, interwoven with gameplay. The games’ content is simple yet comprehensive, having been specially curated by the Publications Division and vetted by experts of the Indian Council of Historical Research, he added. The press conference was also attended by Sh. Ghulam Abbas, Joint Director, Central Bureau of Communication, J&K, Ladakh Region, Deputy Director and RNU Head, DD and AIR Jammu, Sh. R K Raina and Assistant Director, AIR Jammu, Sh. Gulshan Raina.
