National Sports Day celebrated at SAI centre

Jammu, Aug 29: National Sports Day was celebrated at SAI centre Jammu, during the day long program competitions were held in volleyball, Badminton,Basketball and Football besides several recreational games were also conducted among the staff,coaches and SAI trainees. Four teams were formed amongst staff and trainees for the competitions which were named after eminent sportspersons of the country namely P T Usha, Milkha Singh, Prakash Padukone and Abhinav Bindra. After the compilation of results from all competitions, the Milkha Singh group were declared the overall champions and were presented a rolling Trophy named after the legendary Major Dhyan Chand.
The concluding function was attended by Rakesh Dubey, ADC Jammu, Nadeem Ahmad Dar Deputy Director STC Jammu Incharge J&K, Rashid Ahmad Choudhary, State Awardee and all coaches and staff of SAI centre Jammu. During the function rich tributes were paid to Major Dhyan Chand-Hockey legend for his everlasting contributions towards the Indian Sports and his achievements which has motivated the generations together. During the function many athletes and coaches were also felicitated for thier achievements/ contributions during the current session. Mannat Choudhary (Volleyball) for his selection in National Volleyball Team along with his coach sh. Rajeev Dogra, Varun Sharma (Handball) for his selection in National Team for Jr. Asian Handball championship, Umer Gulzar, Sankit Boora, Rahul Boora along with Chief Handball Coach Dev Raj, Krishika Mahajan, Unnati Jarral (Badminton) along with Coaches Touseef Ahmad and Vikram saini.
