BIS conducts sensitization programme for HoDs

RAMBAN, Sept 8: To promote Quality consciousness and awareness among officers and general public, a sensitization program was today organised by Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO) at Conference Hall of District Administrative Complex, Ramban.
The programme was chaired by ADDC Ramban Rajendra Sharma. CPO Ramban Kasturi Lal also attended the program along with ACP Ramban, Legal Metrology Ramban, PWD (RRB) Ramban, CMO Ramban, DIO Ramban, CHO Ramban, DSWO Ramban, ARTO Ramban, AD Food, Chief Education Officer Ramban, DFO Ramban, DMO Ramban, AD food civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Ramban and other district and sectoral officers of the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Pankaj Atri, Joint Director BIS, JKBO gave detailed presentation on Standards Formulation, Product Certification, Hallmarking and Compulsory Registration Scheme. He demonstrated Know Your Standards portal of Manakonline through which standards can be easily located and downloaded free of cost. He also demonstrated BIS Care App through examples to check authenticity of ISI marked products and Hallmarked jewellery and complaints can also be registered.
Atri highlighted various initiatives of the BIS in bringing quality products to the customers. He said that the aim and objective of the programme is too aware the Heads of Departments in District about the Quality checks of the standard products and laws to control the substandard products in the market. He also gave awareness to the gathering about ISI and Hallmark. It is pertinent to mention here that BIS was initially known as Indian Standard Institution and got renamed as Bureau of Indian Standards in Year 1986.
ADDC Ramban Rajendra Sharma said during the program that such awareness programmes must be conducted in public also so that Consumer of the district should get benefitted from the regulations and services provided by BIS. He also urged the officers to spread the awareness among masses during public outreach programs.
The program was coordinated by Ashish Kumar Dwivedi, Standard Promotion Officer, BIS JKBO.
