JAMMU, Sept 22: An interdepartmental chess match was organized by the Sports Unit of MIER College of Education. Rupa Gupta, Jt. Director MIER was the Chief Guest. Dr. Mool Raj Sharma, HOD PG Department, and Dr. Rohnika Sharma, HOD UG Department along with the faculty and students witnessed the sports event.
The meet was inaugurated by Rupa Gupta, and she said that proficiency in co-curricular activities including sports is an integral part of becoming an effective teacher and helps in developing a wholesome personality of the pupil teachers. She asked the players to compete with sportsman spirit and show zeal and enthusiasm.
Around 15 students from both the departments, UG and PG, participated in the competition. Nirbhey Khajuria from B.A. Psychology Honours bagged the first position, Aarti Thakur and Mansi Verma from B.Ed. department secured second and third position respectively.
The programme was coordinated by Kuldeep Singh, Incharge Games and Sports Unit along with the physical training instructors Nisha and Imran who ably conducted the whole event. |
