GDC Darhal Organizes Workshop on “Swachh Bharat Mission”

Jammu, Sept 23: The Swachh Bharat Mission is the most significant campaign by the Govt of India which aims to motivate people of Indian to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi Ji’s dream of a clean and hygienic India. Keeping this in mind NSS Unit ( IMDAD) in collaboration with the Discipline Committee of GDC Darhal organized one day workshop to promote the value of cleaniness, discipline and respect for the environment in the students and educate them about the importance of cleaniness for a healthy socially responsible, economically dynamic and progressive nation.
The workshop comprises of three sessions.In the inaugural session Prof. Tahir Mahmood ( HOD English) flow light on the aims of the workshop followed by taking a Swachta Pledge in which all the staff members along with students took pledge to contribute in the cleaniness of their surroundings and vicinity.
In the second session Dr. Sunil Kumar Mangoch ( NSS PO) highlighted the role and significance of NSS in overall personality development of the youth and in nation building. The session followed by “Shram Daan” in which the NSS volunteers cleaned the College campus thereby creating awareness, inspiring and motivating other students regarding importance of cleanliness.
They took the initiative to clean surrounding areas in the vicinity of the College. In the third session i.e Taining session in which an Hand- on practice and extension Lecture was delivered by Mr. Fayaz Ahmed Bhat ( HOD EVS) on the topics ‘Compositing of Green/ Wet waste’ and ‘Picking up of Non- biodegradable waste’. While speaking on the topics he said that non- biodegradable waste cannot be handled as easily as biodegradable trash. They endure on earth for a very long time without degrading. Whereas green green waste compost is composted green waste largely from municipal garden waste. It is usually composted on the farm where it is used.
