Devotional Song Competition inaugurated amid grand start of Navratra Festival

KATRA, Sept 27: Marking the grand start of the Annual Navratra Festival, the all India Devotional Song Competition was inaugurated today evening at Yog Ashram Complex.
The event began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Swami Yoganand ji Maharaj in presence of General Manager J&K Bank Jammu Division Sunit Kumar and Deputy General Manager (Zonal head Udhampur zone ), Chairman Devotional Song Committee & President Hotel Association Katra Rakesh Wazir, besides judges of the Competition, Gautam Sharma and Rama Kant Khajuria etc.
Speaking on the occasion, the DGM said that the devotional song competition has assumed a great significance as on one hand it provides a major platform to the budding singers and on the other hand offers a major attraction for the Tourists.
On the first day of the preliminary round of the competition Sukhjinder Jamla from Amritsar bagged first position & Mahinder Soni from Jammu & Sandeep Singh from Reasi got 2nd & 3rd positions respectively. Among the 8 auditioned participants, 2 participants were from outside and 6 were from within J&K. The winer and runners up were presented a cash award of Rs 10,000/- , Rs 5,000/-and Rs 3,000/- by the Chief Guest
The Grand finale of the All India Devotional Song Competition will be held on October 4, 2022 and winner will be awarded with gold amounting to Rs 3 Lakh and a recording contract with Venus Records &Tapes Ltd, while the first runner ups will get gold worth Rs 1 lakh and the third Runner up gold worth Rs 50,000.
The Devotional Song Competition was adjudged by the panel of experts in music including Dr.Usha Bhagati, Ex.HOD Music; Dr. Surinder Sharma, Head of the department Govt Degree College, Sanjoli Himachal Pradesh & Dr. Anupma Sharma, Ex.HOD PG Music Department, Government College Parade.
Famous celebrity singer Chaman Lehri and Former winner of All India devotional Song Competition known for his famous songs Maiya ji taunu namaskar, Aavo Ganpat Maharaj,P aghta Chal chalye etc. enthralled the audience with their melodious songs filling the environment of the venue with spiritual ambience.
The proceedings were conducted by Rakesh Wazir, the Chairman of the Competition Committee. Speaking on the occasion, he said that preliminary rounds of the competition will continue till October 1 and anyone can enroll by simply making a call on 9419915907. The live telecast of the event is available on PTC Punjabi Gold from 9 PM onwards daily.
The All India Devotional Song Competition is being organized by SMVD Shrine Board, Department of J&K Tourism, PTC Punjabi Gold in association with Patanjali Dantkanti and co-sponsored by Monalisa, Lia Agarbati, J&K Bank, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Super Speciality Hospital, Nidesh Builders Pvt.Ltd.
