IGNOU celebrates Hindi Pakhwada

JAMMU, Sept 28: To commemorate the decision of the Constituent Assembly adopting Hindi as the official language of India on 14th September 1949, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre Jammu celebrated Hindi Pakhwada from 14th to 28th September 2022. Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director In charge inaugurated the celebration on the occasion of Hindi Diwas on 14th September 2022 with the oath ceremony in which pledge was administered to the staff of the RC to maximize the use of Hindi language in official communications. The inaugural ceremony also witnessed briefing by the Regional Director about the history of celebrating the Hindi Diwas and Hindi Pakhwada and significance of Hindi language. During the fortnight from 15th to 27th September, 2022 a number of events were organized in which students, LSC functionaries, RC Officials and staff participated with great zeal and enthusiasm.
The valedictory ceremony was held on 28th September, 2022 with "Kavyi Competition" among the staff of Regional Centre and students in the presence Regional Director, Dr. Sandeep Gupta and Assistant Regional Directors, Dr. Vikram Singh and Dr. Asha Upadhyay, who encouraged the participants and emphasized the importance of Hindi language. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Vikram Singh, enlightened the students with various insights into the scope, development and popularity of Hindi and said that it is important to learn Hindi to reach out to the masses. Dr. Asha Upadhyay informed the students about the job opportunities in the field of Hindi. She explained about the various posts available in Government offices and various other offices like Proofreaders, News Readers, Translators, Interpreters, TV Anchors, News Editors, Hindi Software developers, etc. Dr. Sandeep Gupta, Regional Director in his concluding remarks suggested the staff of the Regional Centre to use Hindi in routine administration and office works.
