11/11/2022 10:03:22 PM
Early Times Report

Kathua, Nov 11: J&K National Conference today asserted that the present government headed by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha has completely failed to protect the rights of Dalits as well as weaker sections of the society in the state.
He was speaking at the workers convention of Party’s SC Cell at Nagri area of Kathua district. This convention was organized by Subash Chandra Azad, District President SC Cell NC, Kathua.
Addressing Party’s workers convention, the senior NC leader said that the Dalits and other backward communities had voted overwhelmingly for ruling government at the Centre in the previous elections but the Saffron Party has failed to protect their interest. He expressed great disappointment against the J&K administration for its negative attitude towards the Dalits and alleged that that the present administration is not showing the least concern to addressing the pressing issues of this section of the society.
Rattan Lal Gupta said that the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989 has not been extended to J&K State, where their population is 20 per cent. He stressed upon the need for stepping up efforts to ensure economic empowerment, besides emancipation of the weaker sections so that they can play their useful role in the society.
The senior NC leader asserted that the funds sanctioned for central sponsored schemes with regard to welfare of Dalits and other backward communities in Jammu and Kashmir have not been fully utilized more than 50 per cent due to poor monitoring mechanism. He asserted that the government is just wasting public money by conducting Back to Village programme 4 which has turned out to be a total eye wash. Moreover, the Administration has failed to resolve the burning issues likely unemployment, farmers, daily wagers and many more raised and registered during the first three phases, he lamented. He urged the Administration to first review the result or outcome of the earlier three phases and only thereafter proceed further with the so called mega outreach programme.
The Provincial President asserted that the National Conference has always remained committed to protect the rights of SC communities in the past and shall continue to do the same in future too. He asked the SC Cell office bearers to gear up for the upcoming Assembly elections as these could be announced any time now. He urged the party cadre to conduct an outreach programmes in their respective areas and make them aware about how BJP has cheated them on the promises made by it in 2014 before going to elections. He asked them to reiterate to the community people the commitment of National Conference to protect the rights of the SC Community.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary JKNC, in his address, said that the tall claims made by the government with regard to unprecedented development in Jammu and Kashmir after abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A has proved to be hoax but the reality is that the situation has gone from bad to worst. A common man in Jammu and Kashmir is suffering on account of wrong policies of the government, he added.
Vijay Lochan, Provincial President SC Cell, said that the poverty rate is increasing day by day in the state. He said that justice has denied to Dalits in the state. The poor and Dalit people have been crunched socially and economically under the BJP regime due to which the future of Dalits and other backward communities are dark in Jammu and Kashmir.
Pardeep Bali Provincial Secretary Jammu said that BJP’s hollow slogans and promises made to SC and other weaker sections of the society have not been fulfilled as the Saffron Party continues to remain busy in other issues. He asked party cadre to work relentlessly as party’s foot soldiers in their respective areas to strengthen National Conference at all levels.
Among others who were present in the programme include: Ajeet Kumar Sharma District President Kathua Urban, K.K Bakashi District Secretary, Basant Ram Block President, Balbir Singh, Ashok Kumar, Devinder Mehta and others
