RDD Jammu organises series of events to celebrates Awaas Diwas

Jammu, Nov 20: The Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj today organised a series of awareness cum grievances redressal camps in Jammu district as part of the week long campaign (from 20th November to 27th November} launched for up-dation/deletion and addition of the Permanent Wait List (PWL) under PMAY-G (Awaas plus). A series of camps were held at Panchayat level across different Blocks of District Jammu to listen to the grievances pertaining to Awaas Plus and find a solution by the Panchayat and tehsil level Committees and recommend the same to the District level Panel headed by District Development Commissioner. The Panchayat level and tehsil level Committees constituted by the District Administration has officials representing various departments. The camps organised from 20th Nov at its initial phase will see more participation from PRI members, general public. Director Rural Development Jammu, Mumtaz Ali along with ACD Jammu Preeti Sharma visited Panchayat Fatehpur Brahmana of Block R. S. Pura, where the officers proposed deletion of names from the PWL who had already received the benefit or have pucca houses. The Panchayat also proposed 20 beneficiaries for addition in the PWL. Besides, the panchayat also discussed various other issues pertaining to RDD with the Director RDD.
DDC Member R S Pura, Gharu Kumar Bhagat and BDC Chairman, Tarsem Kumar, were also present in the meeting. Later, the Director RDD also visited Panchayat Jinder Mhelu of Block Miran Sahib to attend another Gram Sabha. The Gram Sabha proposed addition of few left over beneficiaries. Out of 56 cases pertaining to PWL in Panchayat Jinder Mhelu, 48 were registered and 8 ineligibles were recommended for deletion. The Exercise of up-dation of PWL in all 305 pyt’s of District Jammu will culminate on 27th November giving a hope to many deserving homeless families.
