GDC Kathua organizes Inter college symposium competition

KATHUA, Dec 2: Government Degree College, Kathua in collaboration with Prof. DK Rampal Memorial Trust Jammu organized Intercollege Symposium Competition on the topic "Digital India: Importance and Impact" on 2nd December,2022conceived and conceptualized by Dr. Seema Malpotra, Convener, Debate and Symposium Committee. Prof. R D Sharma, former vice-chancellor JU was the chief guest on the occasion. He was given a warm welcome with theguard of honour by the students of NCC.
The programme began with the lightening of the ceremonial lamp by the dignitaries followed by the formal welcome address by Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Principal GDC Kathua who outlined the purpose and structure of the event. The dignitaries laid stress on the need to digitalise the nation in order to come at par with other developed nations. Prof. R D Sharma complimented the organizers for hosting the Symposium Competition in memory of a visionary academician Prof. Ravinder Rampal. Speaking on the occasion Prof. R D Sharma called late Prof. D K Rampal a towering personality as a teacher whose contribution can never be forgotten. He highlighted the vision of the trust and congratulated it for organising an academic event of this magnitude. In his address he also laid stress on the need for research based learning, good communication skills, knowledge and reasoning aptitudeof students in order to achieve a good NAAC grade. Dr. Vinay Rampal, Secretary Prof. DK Rampal Memorial Trust also appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee for putting up a great event.
Students from different colleges of Jammu division expressed their views on various aspects of the topic and we're adjudicated by the judges Dr. Ritu Bhagat, Dr. Seema and Dr. Surya Partap Singh on various parameters. 1st position was bagged byArti Sharma from GDC, Bishnah, 2nd position went to Ms. Neha Kumari from GDC, Kathua and 3rd position was given to Mr. Aryan Raj from GDC, R S Pura.
Prof. R D Sharma, Prof. Sumanesh Jasrotia, Dr. Vinay Rampal and other dignitaries distributed the certificates and cash prizes to all participants. Students who topped in academics in different semesters were also felicitated by the dignitaries. The cultural programme was also presented by the students of GDC Kathua with full enthusiasm. The event was attended by the senior faculty members including Prof Jaswinder Singh and Prof. Rakesh Singh.
The event was concluded with vote of thanks by Dr. Anupma Arora, Department of Chemistry and event's comparing was done by Ms. Ritika Jasrotia and Mr. Pratham Sharma.
The event was convened by Dr. Seema Malpotra, Convener Debate and Symposium Committee and HOD, Department of English with the support of committee members Prof. Raj Kiran, Dr. Anupma Arora, Dr. Shubh Kumar, Dr. Shivani Kotwal, Dr. Chetna Gupta, Dr. Ambica, Dr. Upasna Andotra, Prof. Manmohan Singh, Dr. Amita Dua, Dr. Eva Sharma, Dr. Nitasha Baloria and Prof. Rakhi Malhotra. The event was even attended by members of the Trust along with students.
