Government Polytechnic Jammu organized seminar

JAMMU, Dec 2: Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk Jammu today organized one day seminar on "Rights of Women against Sexual Harassment at workplace" for all female faculty, staff and students of the college. The guest expert for the seminar was an eminent speaker Shashi Thakur Dy. Sp. (Retd.) Jammu and Kashmir Police a well-known name in the arena of law. The seminar was inaugurated by Er. Arun Bangotra Principal Govt. Polytechnic Jammu and in his welcome address spoke and stressed that the fine line to be drawn at the workplace to prevent the occurrence of sexual harassment at the workplace.
He added that institute has constituted a Committee for the Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal of Sexual Harassment of Female Employees and Students (ICC) to create a safe and secure environment for females in the campus. In her lecture, Shashi Thakur explained prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment cases. The seminar emphasized gender bias and other related issues at workplaces and various do's and dont's for prevention of such unwanted actions and behaviours. During the question- answer session, students shared and enquired the information of various related aspects. Neena Dullo, Training and Placement Officer and Chairperson ICC proposed the Vote of Thanks. The event was coordinated by Er. Sakshi Kapai, Lecturer, Er. Vandana Chib and Ar. Manu Rajput members of ICC and Women Cell Government Polytechnic Bikram Chowk, Jammu. All the female staff members and more than 150 girl students attended the seminar.
