District Administration Ramban gears up to celebrate 13th National Voters’ Day

RAMBAN, Jan 23: District Election Officer (DEO), Ramban, Mussarat Islam today chaired a meeting of officers to finalize the arrangements to be put in place for celebration of 13th National Voters’ Day, on the theme ‘Nothing like voting, I vote for sure’ on January 25, in the district.
Addressing the meeting, the DEO informed that National Voters’ Day (NVD) was being celebrated across the country to mark the foundation day of Election Commission of India on 25 January every year since 2011.
He said that the main objective of the day was to sensitize the people in general and young voters in particular about the electoral process and importance of votes, besides encouraging them to actively participate in the electoral process.
It is also an occasion to highlight the remarkable contributions of the Election Commission of India in strengthening the democratic fabric of the country, besides ensuring free, fair and smooth conduct of elections, the DEO added.
The main function of NVD shall be organized at District Headquarter, the DEO said and added that the functions, in this regard, shall also be organized at EROs, AEROs, and Polling Station levels.
He directed that the Government Departments, educational institutions, PRIs and NGOs shall also organize functions to celebrate the NDV across the district in which pledge taking ceremonies, and various attractive and informative events shall be held. Earlier, Deputy District Election Officer, Lal Chand informed the meeting that a circular instructions has already been issued to organize the functions at EROs, AEROs, and Polling Station levels.
Among others, the meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Harbans Lal Sharma, Chief Planning Officer, Dr Kashturi Lal, General Manager, DIC, Ravinder Anand,-Assistant Commissioner , Development, Ashok Singh, Chief Education Officer ( Nodal Officer SVEEP) Dev Anand, besides AERO Rafiq Ahmad and official of election department attended the meeting.
