Scholarship selection test conducted by Harbans Roshan Bhalla Educational Foundation

JAMMU, Feb 8: Harbans Roshan Bhalla Educational Foundation today launched its 14 day drive for selection of new students for their scholarship program at Bee Enn General Hospital Complex, Talab Tillo Road, Jammu.
Kunil K Bhalla, Managing Trustee inaugurated the drive. He said that around 300 new students will be inducted in the scholarship program during this year. The eligibility is for children from classes 1st, 2nd and 3rd from government schools. Preference is given to girls and rural children from weak financial background.
HREF has been awarding scholarships since 1997 and the number of children helped every year has grown from 12 initially to 558 in 2025. HREF covers children from rural areas such as Arnia, Akalpur, Chak, Rattian, Doomi, Amb, Gajansoo, R. S. Pura, Birpur, Rehian, Jourian, Dansal, Gharota, Kangrail, Gurah Slathia, Patti, Ghou Manhasan, Garh Mandi, Saruinsar, Kanachak, Ranjri, Samba, etc. The students already getting scholarship in HREF will also be appearing for the tests from 09th of Feb. to 12th of Feb. 2025 and 17th of Feb. to 27th of Feb. 2025(except 26th). Every year over 21 Lacs are spent on the education support programme by HREF.
This year, the Foundation has announced giving additional prizes amounting Rs 1,25,000/- under Ram Lal Bhalla Awards for Toppers Scheme. These awards will be given to Topper students who get marks above 75%. The test is conducted four times in a year.
HREF also gives Sunanda Dua Awards in the memory of Lt. Sunanda Dua for our students who score high percentage in the Board Exams annually. An amount of Rs 1,88,000/- was distributed during 2024.
Eligible children can come for the tests on any day from 09th of Feb. to 12th of Feb. 2025 and 17th of Feb. to 27th of Feb. 2025(except 26th). The tests are conducted daily between 9.30 am to 12 noon.
