District Admin Kupwara holds Mega Workshop

KUPWARA, Feb 22: District Administration Kupwara today organized a One Day Workshop on Disaster Management which was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan.
The workshop was attended by SSP Kupwara, Gulam Jeelani; ADC Kupwara, Mohd Rouf Rehman, besides, district/sectoral officers, Senior Officers from Army, CRPF, NDRF, SDRF, Tehsildars and other stakeholders.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner said that the aim of organizing the workshop is know how to pool and utilize the resources from different agencies and stakeholders to tackle different kinds of disasters in the district.
She said that the administration faces different adversities including flash floods, earthquake, cloud bursts, fire etc which need coordinated and immediate effort to tackle with the situation.
Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among departments, volunteers, and individuals to minimize losses from unpredictable and unavoidable disasters.
ADC Kupwara also spoke and thanked the participants for attending the Workshop. He also emphasized the need for collaborative efforts from different agencies to strengthen the efforts for disaster management in the district.
Meanwhile, experts and officers from different departments including SDRF presented their plan in the meeting for dealing with the untoward circumstances.
Later, the officials and volunteers from SDRF, NDRF including Aapda Mitras provided detailed awareness and demonstrations about various life saving techniques to be followed while taking rescue and rehabilitation operation.
They demonstrated how to support disaster victims, including procedures for cardiac attacks, road accidents, burns, drowning, and the use of critical ambulances.
The demonstration session covered essential topics such as earthquake preparedness, first aid, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
An award ceremony was also held during which certificates of appreciation and momentos were given to the officials and volunteers who have shown good performance in mitigation efforts during disasters.
