JAMMU, Mar 8: Women Development Cell of GDC RS Pura celebrated International Women's Day on a Theme "Accelerate Action for Gender Equality" in the college premises under the worthy patronage of Principal Prof. (Dr.) Preetpal Kour and supervision of Dr. Neena Gupta Rohmetra, Convenor Women Development Cell. The event started with a welcome address by Dr Neena Gupta, who emphasized the importance of celebrating women's achievements and continuing the fight for gender equality. The event featured a series of activities, including speeches, performances, and discussions, all focused on honoring women's contributions to society and advocating for gender equality. Several performances were staged by the students, including dance, music, and poetry, all showcasing themes of empowerment, equality, and women's strength. More than 100 students participated in this event with zeal and enthusiasm. The celebration of International Women's Day brought together students, faculty, and staff, creating a vibrant atmosphere of unity, respect, and celebration for gender equality. The Principal of the college reflected on the importance of this day and encouraged people to contemplate that Women's empowerment is not just about uplifting women; it is about challenging ourselves to break free from stereotypes, supporting one another, and ensuring that everyone, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to succeed and thrive. Prominent faculty members also graced the event with their presence. The event was concluded with formal vote of thanks by Prof. Radhika Mahajan, Head of department Chemistry. The entire programme was co-ordinated by Prof. Harpreet Kour, Assistant Professor in English department and Dr. Savleen Kour, Head of department Veterinary Technology
