GDC Thannamandi organizes drug de-addiction awareness program

THANNAMANDI, Mar 20: Demonstrating a profound commitment to combating the rising challenge of drug addiction, Govt. Degree College (GDC) Thannamandi, under the banner of Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, and in collaboration with Sub -divisional administration, Thannamandi, hosted a program to combat substance abuse and drug de-addiction today. The event, meticulously orchestrated, sought to educate and empower the community by fostering awareness about the perils of drug abuse and the avenues for rehabilitation. The program commenced with an inspiring address by Prof. Farooq Ahmad, Principal of GDC Thannamandi, who spoke on the pivotal role educational institutions play in shaping a drug-free society. He emphasized the need for continuous efforts and collaborative approaches to effectively address the menace of drug addiction. Dr. Pervaiz Alam, MD Psychiatry PGI Chandigarh, the resource person of the awareness program delivered a painstaking lecture, and elaborated on the multifaceted strategies to be adopted to tackle this pressing issue. He highlighted the harmful effects of drugs, deliberated extensively on fighting the Opioid crisis that include Bhukki, Hafeem, Codeine, heroin,, Tramadol, etc. He also shared his expertise on rehabilitation strategies and support systems available for individuals battling addiction. Prominent among the Sub Divisional Admistartion Thannamandi who graced the occasion were SDM, Tariq Shawl, BDO Thananmdni Qadeer Chadak, Dr Mohd Ghulam Medical Officer and other staff members of sub-divisional admistartion.
