GCOE Library, ICT Department host awareness programme

JAMMU, Mar 20: The Library and ICT Department of the Government College of Education (GCOE) successfully organized an informative awareness programme on March 20, 2025, to educate students about the Government of India's "One Nation One Subscription" (ONOS) scheme. Held in the ICT Department, the session was designed to introduce students to the platform and demonstrate how to access e-journals from thirty prominent publishers.
The "One Nation One Subscription" scheme, launched by the Government of India, offers students and researchers nationwide access to a wide range of academic resources, providing an invaluable tool for enhancing their research activities. This initiative aims to make quality academic content accessible to all, regardless of geographical location, significantly contributing to the academic growth of students across India.
The session, which was taken by the college's Librarian, Mrs.Usha Kumari, featured a comprehensive online demonstration on how to use the ONOS platform. Students were guided through the steps of accessing e-journals, searching for specific academic content, and utilizing the platform's resources to support their research. This session aimed to ensure students fully understood the potential of the platform in boosting their academic and research capabilities.
The event was hosted by Dr. Sonam Gandotra, Head of the ICT Department, who played an instrumental role in coordinating the programme. During the session, students expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn how to navigate this valuable platform, which will undoubtedly enhance their research skills.
The Principal of GCOE, Dr. Jyoti Parihar, lauded the efforts of both the Library and ICT Departments for their initiative. "The One Nation One Subscription scheme is a remarkable opportunity for our students. The efforts of the Library and ICT Departments in facilitating this awareness programme are truly commendable. It is an essential step toward equipping our students with the resources they need to excel in their academic endeavors," Dr. Parihar remarked.
The programme was a great success, with students leaving equipped with the knowledge to utilize this invaluable tool for academic growth. The Library and ICT Department remain dedicated to providing GCOE students with the resources and skills needed to excel in research and academic pursuits.
