MAJALTA, Mar 24: Government Degree College (GDC) Majalta, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department, organized a guest lecture and poster-making competition under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan to raise awareness about drug abuse and its impact on society.
The event, organized by Prof. Naresh Kumar under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma, Principal of GDC Majalta, featured resource persons from the Social Welfare Department, Jammu & Kashmir Police, Health Department, and Drug & Food Department. They highlighted the rising issue of substance abuse, its societal impact, and the need for early intervention and rehabilitation programs. Real-life experiences, statistical insights, and preventive strategies were shared to make the session more impactful.
As part of the awareness drive, a poster-making competition was held, where students showcased their artistic talents and conveyed powerful messages against drug addiction. The best entries were felicitated with prizes and certificates in recognition of their efforts.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Shalini Sharma emphasized the role of educational institutions in shaping responsible citizens and urged students to act as ambassadors of change. The event concluded with a pledge-taking ceremony, reaffirming commitment to a drug-free society.
